great picture! I love it. Great job with the bokeh, you are one of the few who actually use this group for bokeh, and you did awesome.

beautiful bokeh.

the bokeh is gorgeous, but the rest of the picture looks a little drippy
what are those grey things?
alkxx 2011-01-23 04:37:20
It's part of the bridge - I was resting my camera on the side of the bridge, and that is the surface on top of the barrier, if that makes sense.
What do you mean by drippy? How do you think this could be improved?!

Thanks for your comments!

Super bokeh and great title :)

Nicely done Louise - great bokeh and composition.

Great pic. Which bridge is it?
Alan O'Riordan 2011-01-23 08:34:13
Hmmm, now you're asking! I haven't been in Melbourne for a little while.

The bokeh is made up of lights from the Southbank footbridge. I think the bridge I was on, is the one leading in and out of Flinders St station, which comes out near the McDonalds - the bridge with all the metai sculptures! If that makes sense!
Louise Denton 2011-01-23 08:39:08
[] oh alright! hmm, i mean that the metal things in the midground, sort of run into the background, i don't actually think it's your colors, just your focus. or did you put a sort of cartoony layer on it? i'm not sure.
by the way, the rest of your stream is really really lovely
alkxx 2011-01-26 17:58:03
There are a few rows of rivet thingys, so I focused on the first row only.
I hardly edited this - just a few minor tweaks to the exposure, a curves layer, a slight increase in contrast, decreased the saturation (a lot!), and added a warm colour filter layer.
Louise Denton 2011-01-27 00:07:43
Yes, [], that makes total sense! Not sure what that bridge is called, actually. Thanks for replying.!

Nice shot. Its the (Old) Sandridge Rail Bridge. Just walked past someone taking a similar photo at 1pm. I suspect your night shot will turn out a better coice of light.
